The Library welcomes new item requests from staff for the Library collection. You may request an item to support teaching, research or for the general collection.
All new requests will be assessed against the Collection Development and Access Policy.
New item suggestion for the Library collection
The Library will consider all requests to include new items in the physical or digital collection. This may include books, professional publications, audiovisual materials, journal subscriptions and database access. If an item is required for teaching purposes within a subject, multiple copies may be purchased.
Due to the substantial and ongoing cost of new journal and database subscriptions, requests will be evaluated in consultation with school librarians and they may be in touch to discuss your request further. Requests for single journal articles may be submitted though Document Delivery.

Staff request to purchase books required for professional purposes
The Library purchases books required as working tools or reference for university academic and professional staff. All purchases require authorisation by a Dean or Supervisor and require a cost centre. Once the library has received and processed the item, a permanent loan will be applied but needs to be returned at the end of employment.
For audit purposes, the Library is responsible for recording and tracking all books and journals acquired using operating funds, internal or external research funds and/or donations. All books and journals purchased using University funds remain the property of the University, except where a book or journal is an approved gift from the University. Where an exception has been granted to the ‘Personal and Discretionary Expenditures Policy’ for purchase of items on a Corporate Credit card, details of the items purchased must be attached to the form below.
