Initial meeting with your School Librarian to discuss your proposed project.

Initial scoping consultation

Meeting with Western Open Books team to discuss and scope your goals for the open text. Author Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the authors. Resources and templates shared with the author.

Start planning

Library will help you plan the structure of the open text, outline timeframe, coordinate resources, provide templates, support, and promotions for your open text.

Begin writing

Start drafting content and gathering materials.

Progress support workshops

Catch-up regularly with the Western Open Books team to advance your progress, receive guidance and support, and plan the next steps.

Quality assurance

Submit first draft for copyright compliance, peer review, copy editing, and final quality assessment to ensure high quality and accessibility for all.

Publish

Your open text will be catalogued, indexed, published with a DOI and promoted widely.

Recognition, reward, and evaluation

Library will help you gather impact data to support your grant, award, and promotion applications.
