Document Delivery & External Collections

While our library boasts a broad range of collections, it's important to note that we may not have every resource. Here are several avenues to explore for searching and obtaining materials that are not currently available at Western Sydney University Library.

Document Delivery

If you are a current Western Sydney University staff member, PhD candidate, Masters or final year Honours student you are eligible for the Document Delivery Service which means we will request a loan or a digital copy of a resource from another library.

  • Current Western Sydney University staff
  • Currently enrolled Western Sydney University PhD, Masters and final year Honours students.
  • Please note registration is not required.

  • Sign in to the Library search box using your Western Account.
  • Search for the resource you need and when the results are displayed, tick ‘Results beyond the Library's collection’.
  • If you see ‘No Full Text’, via this link, click on ‘Resource Sharing’ to access the prefilled document delivery form.
  • If you cannot find an item via the Library search box, use the online form to place a request
  • All requests are subject to Australian Copyright Legislation, which may limit how much you can request from a book or journal.

Processing times

  • Requested items will usually be supplied within 5 to 10 working days, but may depend on the supplying library.
  • Please check MyLibrary Account for the status of your request.
  • Please note that processing times for document delivery requests will be delayed over the Christmas/New Year period.

You will be notified via email when an item has arrived. Electronic articles will be supplied as an email attachment.

Loan periods

  • Loan periods vary depending on the lending library's policy. Check the due date when borrowing the item.
  • Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library. Please contact us at least a week prior to the item’s due date to discuss.

Returning requested document delivery items

  • Items can be returned to any Western Sydney University Library, or by post.
  • Late returns are subject to standard Western Sydney University Library fees.
