Wear it Purple Day Event: 26 August

We’re Here and We’re Queer in the Workplace

Wear It Purple Day, Queer-focused Panel:
Friday August 26, 2-4PM

Wear It Purple is an annual day of awareness and celebration of young people in the Queer community. This year, WSU Queer students and allies are invited to join our panel event to discuss being queer in the workplace.

The panel features industry representatives with intersecting backgrounds to talk about their experiences of being queer (with all the intersectionality) in the workplace, focusing on myth-busting, opportunities, and success stories. Following the panel discussion, there will be time for a Q&A between the panel and audience members.

The panel is made up of members of the Queer community from various industries and includes:

1. Terence Huynh (he/him) - Software Engineer, Economy Growth, Atlassian
2. Jack Byrnes (they/them) - Social Impact and Engagement Sector, NSW Government Department of Customer Service
3. Türkan Aksoy (they/ them) - NSW Coordinator, Welcoming Cities
4. Eli Ryan
5. Matika Little (she/her) – First Nations and Community Engagement Officer, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras
6. Aaron Sinclair (he/him) – Design Manager - eCom, Team & Inclusion, Woolworths Group

Panel convenor: Associate Professor Brahm Marjadi (he/him), Rainbow Western
