Reciprocal Borrowing

Western Sydney University participates in the University Libraries of Australia and New Zealand (ULANZ) borrowing scheme that allows staff and students of participating member universities to obtain borrowing privileges from other participating university libraries.

How to register

To apply for borrowing rights at other institutions you will need to register with the host library from which you wish to borrow. For details of how to register and information on borrowing conditions at individual libraries check University Libraries of Australia and New Zealand

Duration of borrowing privileges

Borrowing privileges are valid until February 28 of the following year. A new application is required each year.

Borrowing conditions

Use of other libraries will be governed by the host library's rules and regulations. Infringements at a host library may result in sanctions at the borrower's home library.

Fees

Registration fees may apply at some institutions. All fees, charges and levies associated with such registrations are to be met by the client. University postgraduate students will be subsidised for one registration fee. The registration fee will be reimbursed on presentation of a receipt and proof of registration.

Eligibility

Staff and students of participating ULANZ university libraries

** Open University students are not eligible for membership under the ULANZ scheme.

Access

ULANZ is a borrowing agreement. It does not include Document Delivery, Intercampus requests or remote access to electronic resources.

Loan conditions

ULANZ members may borrow a maximum of 30 items at any one time. ULANZ members are not eligible to borrow items placed in Reserve or electronic devices.

The loan period is 14 days with optional 14 day renewal periods up to a maximum of 84 days from the initial renewal date. All loans are subject to recall. Items must be returned or renewed by the due date. Items may be borrowed in person from, and returned to, any one of our 7 campus libraries.

Overdue items

Standard fees and penalties apply

Liability for late fees or costs incurred for materials which are returned late, lost or damaged remains with the borrower. Infringements at Western Sydney University libraries may result in sanctions at the borrower's home library. For more information contact the Library.

How to Register
  • Complete an online registration form
  • Go to a campus library with photo ID and proof of enrolment or employment
  • A registration fee of $50 (incl. GST) applies for students. Payment must accompany the registration application
  • Payment can be made online via iPay, at an ePay Kiosk located in the library, or by cheque made out to the "Western Sydney University Library", accompanied by information clearly indicating the client’s name, address and/or student/staff ID number

The University Library DOES NOT accept cash.

TAFE

  • Students and staff of identified TAFE Colleges (SWSI - South Western Sydney Institute and WSI – Western Sydney Institute)  are able to borrow from the University Library under the reciprocal membership
  • Library Membership does not include Document Delivery, Intercampus requests, borrowing Reserve material or remote access to the Library's electronic resources
  • Library membership fee is $50.00 for 12 months. Payment must accompany the registration
  • Members under 18 years of age require written parental/guardian authorisation
